PATINAS

Many of our limited edition brass faces are detailed with custom patinas. Patinas occur naturally through the process of oxidation, however you can also guide the change through processes such as applying heat or the use of applicators such as vinegar. These techniques can be used to transform mediums including metal and wood.

Spencer uses a combination of different chemical compounds, applied heat, water and a variety of other techniques to create unique colors and textures.  A very unpredictable process but one that yields a defining characteristic to each of piece.
