It’s been hard to know how and what to write, as if it’s business as usual, given the state of the world, because we know, it is not. As caring humans, and as a small business, we’re feeling the impact deeply.
Since our inception in 2006, we’ve weathered economic downturns, political instability, and the many challenges of running a small business, but nothing quite like this. These are unprecedented times, and it feels disingenuous to move forward as if everything is normal when so much is not.
Our company has intentionally operated outside dominant systems, staying clear of the corporate funnel, designing our own path, and supporting what feels genuinely important to us, self-expression, art, and the belief that making something meaningful can bring joy into the world.
Over the last 20 years, we’ve witnessed firsthand what bringing people together through art and creation can do. We’ve seen connection form across differences, joy interrupt hardship, and community evolve in ways that feels deeply human. The system often wants us to believe this kind of work is frivolous, unnecessary, or indulgent, but we know otherwise. The resistance to conform, speaks to who we are, how we choose to live our lives, and what we believe is worth protecting.
Our small international company supports over 30 individuals, many of whom are the primary income source for their families, that’s over 100 people whose lives are connected to this work. Working internationally has shown us the value of shared making, learning across cultures, exchanging skills, and building work that’s richer because of the people who shape it. Resistance isn’t just about refusing a system we don’t believe in, it’s about continuing to show up for our team, the people we care about, our community, and you.
There is always this question, what can we do? Use our voices. Vote. Make conscious choices. Show up. Boycott. We believe our everyday decisions matter, how we spend our money and energy, who we support, and how we move through the world.
We also recognize that the ability to create, to speak, and to choose is a privilege not afforded to everyone, and that awareness only deepens our responsibility to use it with care.
Lately, the walls feel closer. The pressure to keep up, to stay afloat, to do more with less is real. We understand the impulse to disengage. We’re in survival mode, and survival often leads to isolation. But separation weakens us. What brings us together?
For us, it’s continuing to build something we believe in, creating moments of connection, holding space for art and human engagement and exchange. These are the values we founded this business on, and despite the pressure, we know they matter.
Because without hope, without belief, greed wins.
So here’s to those who challenge the system, the creators, rebels, activists, weirdos, and free thinkers; the deep feelers and big dreamers. Those who believe another way is possible, and choose to live as if it matters, because it does.
Let’s keep going together - with purpose, heart, naps and art.
Thank you for being here,
Your Blamo Family
